It is a commonly shared perception that the process of moving home can be stressing. Organizing things, the effort of shifting, loading and unloading the removal vans, cleansing the new home (and the old one for the new entrants) can be so unnerving. However, Andrea Morgan, writing for the London Property News confirms that shifting homes can be a stress-free experience. Actually, she feels that it can be an exciting adventure- Phew!
You just need to keep this five-pronged strategy in mind:
1. Right preparation
Start preparing for the shift the moment the thought enters your head. Be harsh on yourself when it comes to retaining the less-usable objects (those which we nevertheless like to cling to).
2. Packing objects and wherewithals
Make sure you start to pack well in advance to avoid stress on a later day. Use industry-cling films, bubble wraps, a whole lot of boxes and sharpies among other things.
3. Making lists
When you jot down things you are likely to be more organized.
4. Cleaning it right
You have to arrange your new home and clean the old one too. This should not be kept for the last hour. Just as you would expect to find the new home cleaned when you reach there (atleast elementarily), it is your onus to hand over the keys of the old home in spic-n-span condition.
5. Being in control
You must not slacken your control over the entire moving operation. You can help yourself by keeping a note of everything that you have done along the way and every aspect that you still need to focus on.
