We are proud to announce that Martin Kolarik was recently honoured with a National Design Commendation Award for Residential Alterations/Additions.
This was awarded to him by the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) at the 2023 National Design Awards, where they celebrated the best designers in the Australian industry for 2023.
Martin received this award for his creative and inspiring ‘Echo of Deco’ design for a Beecroft (NSW) home renovation.

National acclaim
‘An Echo of Deco’ – Beecroft is a residential masterpiece envisioned by Martin Kolarik. This house showcases his passion for designing exceptional homes and his expertise in creating elegant home extensions and renovations for each of our valued clients.
Martin ingeniously reimagined this property by taking inspiration from the owners’ appreciation for restoring period pieces and Art Deco furniture. The clients had an extensive collection of period pieces and artworks in their home. Thus, Martin’s redesign paid homage to the P&O Art Deco style. It featured signature curves, minimal decoration, and a refined colour palette.
The Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) described Martin’s work as showcasing his design excellence in creating elegant home extensions and renovations.
They described the highlights of this project as having: “Exterior sculptural elements, like a translucent brick window, balance natural light and privacy while adding sophistication to the façade. Inside, an open-plan lounge-dining and kitchen fosters a welcoming atmosphere, facilitating interaction between hosts and guests around the island bench. The project seamlessly combines the Art Deco style with contemporary functionality and aesthetics, achieving harmonious integration of interior and exterior spaces.”
As with all of his residential projects, Martin Kolarik brought a wealth of construction and craftsmanship knowledge to the Beecroft home renovation from his diverse and extensive experience. This was fundamental to the successful implementation of ‘An Echo of Deco’ home redesign.

Our Beecroft clients felt proud of their newly transformed, stylish and distinctive home. They were the first to affectionately name it as “An Echo of Deco.” They praised Martin for his creative interpretation and ability to understand their vision.
