Trends do not stay eternally but there are a few you did hope like hell to make a comeback. Here is looking into a few trends that have made quite a comeback. If nothing, they add a dimension of retro home design to our modern, chic style; a vintage improvisation which can add a whole new perspective to home designing as we see it today.
Wallpapers
Wallpapers have come back in style. Used as accent walls in their various avatars, they can add a spark to the most mundane walls. If you have a home which is crying for a wall motif, you can indulge in renaissance wallpapers. Yes, they are a peek into our past but quite a stylish peek. They come in geometric, asymmetric patterns and you can choose from metallic or jaded finish.
Retro look of 60’s
What’s working up a craze is the 60’s flashback. It is perhaps because the fashion of 60s sits completely in contrast with today’s fads. Imagine a space in your otherwise chic and modern home devoted entirely to rotary phones, chandeliers, booths (and not tables) and vintage diners. Awesome impact! And the word of mouth proves it.
Wood panels
Wood panels have come back in vogue, too. You just have to be cautious about using them. Today, unlike 70s, you cannot use them all around your home. Instead, use them as a feature wall (just like wallpapers) and you will be able to spot an aesthetic difference pretty quickly. We have completely warmed up to the possibilities of wood and today. We are also indulging in wooden countertops for our kitchen, an area where wood was never seen before.
Front doors
A few decades ago we used to experiment frequently with our front doors. With time, we sobered down (why?). Today, the colourful front doors have made a brilliant comeback. Their fresh look seems inviting at the very least and adds many brownie points to the kerb appeal of a home. You can experiment furiously with the door knobs and use as many as three colours- all bold- for your front door and the surrounding area without looking tacky.
