Here is an interesting quick video about how you can make a small garden or courtyard look great with some cost-effective techniques. This is nowhere near what I do for a living but I am talking about it because it is surely worth taking a look into. The video has Charlie Albone (Landscape Designer for Selling Houses Australia) talking about getting a designer look for your garden or courtyard space for a very small cost.
Bamboo screening
According to Albone, bamboo screening makes a powerful impact, and instantly at that. Just roll them out and use galvanised nails to secure them to the fence. You can go for a rustic look or a beautiful texture.
Vertical walls
A green dressing (a vertical wall) opens up any wall beautifully. While customised vertical walls can cost you in excess of $1000/square metre, there are many DIY vertical garden kits available in the market today. You just need to secure them to a fence and add your selection of plants to them. It is interesting to note that these vertical walls come with their personal irrigation system.
Slatted screen
If you don’t want to build a fence and yet cordon off a garden area, a slatted screen can do the trick only too well for your small garden. It is a great substitute to the diamond lattice screen which offered us privacy in the past.
There are a wide range of products in the market which can offer your garden fence an instant facelift. Indeed, we live in a world where we are really spoiled as far as home design choices are concerned.
